BROTHER B NOMINATED FOR NAACP AWARD IN HOLLYWOOD, USA

Brother B has been nominated for his album 'Carnival fever' at the NAACP awards in Hollywood, USA under the category Outstanding World Music album award.

The National Association for the Advancement of Coloured People, usually abbreviated as NAACP, is an African-American civil rights organization in the United States, formed in 1909. Its mission is "to ensure the political, educational, social, and economic equality of rights of all persons and to eliminate racial hatred and racial discrimination".Its name, retained in accordance with tradition, uses the once common term colored people.

The NAACP bestows the annual Image Awards for achievement in the arts and entertainment, and the annual Spingarn Medals for outstanding positive achievement of any kind, on deserving African Americans. It has its headquarters in Baltimore, Maryland.

An NAACP Image Award is an accolade presented to honor outstanding people of color in film, television, music, and literature.

Similar to other awards, like the Oscars and the Grammys, the 35 categories of Image Awards are voted on by members of the NAACP.

There are also honorary awards, including the President's Award, the Chairman's Award, Entertainer of the Year and The Image Award Hall of Fame.

The awards were first presented in 1967. The awards series was broadcast live for the first time in 2007 for the 38th edition of the awards show. It was first nationally televised in 1974. The annual ceremonies usually take place in or around the Los Angeles area in February or early March.

The awards are usually presented by and outstanding figure in the coloured community such as an actress or sport personality.

The 2012 awards nominations were announced on January 19, with the awards to air on Feb. 17.
