The SpyceLand Dancers from Grenada are on their first official visit to Canada.
The dancers, who will be in Toronto from January 22nd – 29th, are the recipients of an invitation to perform at the Showcase presentation for the 24th Annual International Association of Blacks in Dance (IABD) Conference & Festival in Toronto hosted by dance Immersion.
The IABD conference provides opportunities for international delegations to expose and showcase who they are and what they have to offer within the global dance community.
This year, the conference will be hosted under the theme “Connecting Our Diasporas through Dance.” The four day conference attempts to bring people together from around the world to be educated and to educate each other around issues that are relevant to dance.
The SpyceLand Dancers, under the artistic direction of Ms. Teheria Viechweg will participate in the conference from January 26th – 29th, 2012, and present their piece, ‘A Glimpse of Carnival’ at the Emerging Artists Showcase on Thursday, January 26th, 2012 commencing at 6:00pm at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre.
